Personal data

Privacy policy.

How I collect, use and protect your personal data — in plain language, no legal jargon.

Data controller

The controller of personal data is L'Art du Rat, a French SAS (société par actions simplifiée), whose registered office is at 151 A, allée des Roses, 33140 Cadaujac, France. You can contact the data controller at hello@buildwithremy.com.

Data collected on this site

This site is deliberately minimal about data collection. As of today, the only information collected is:

  • Booking data: when you book a meeting through the embedded Calendly widget (or via the direct link), Calendly collects your name, your email and the slot you chose in order to confirm the appointment. This data is processed by Calendly and subject to their privacy policy. The widget is lazy-loaded only when you reach the Contact section.
  • Contact data: if you write to me at hello@buildwithremy.com, the information contained in your message is kept for the duration of our exchange and of any engagement that follows.
  • Server logs: Vercel, the hosting provider, keeps technical logs (IP address, user-agent, timestamp) for security and performance purposes. These logs are automatically purged within 30 days.

Purposes of processing

Data is processed in order to:

  • Respond to your quote or booking requests
  • Carry out the engagements ordered (contract)
  • Issue invoices (legal accounting obligation)
  • Ensure the security and proper functioning of the site

Legal bases

  • Consent for booking a meeting via Calendly.
  • Performance of a contract for carrying out the engagement.
  • Legal obligation for accounting retention (10 years).
  • Legitimate interest for server logs (site security).

Retention periods

  • Sales enquiries with no follow-up: 3 years after the last contact
  • Contractual data: during the engagement + 5 years (civil limitation period)
  • Invoices and accounting data: 10 years (legal obligation)
  • Vercel server logs: 30 days maximum

Recipients of the data

Your data is never sold or transferred to third parties for commercial purposes. It may only be passed on to:

  • Calendly — appointment-booking service
  • Google Workspace — professional email service
  • Vercel — site hosting provider
  • My chartered accountant — for bookkeeping
  • The French tax authorities — in the event of a legal audit

Transfers outside the EU

Vercel, Calendly and Google may process some data in the United States. These transfers are governed by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework to which these providers adhere.

Your rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access to your data
  • Right to rectification
  • Right to erasure (the “right to be forgotten”)
  • Right to restriction of processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object
  • Right to withdraw your consent at any time
  • Right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (the French data protection authority)

To exercise these rights, write to hello@buildwithremy.com. You will receive a response within 30 days.

Cookies and audience measurement

This site uses a single strictly necessary cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) that remembers your language preference for 1 year. It is exempt from consent (a functional cookie). No tracking, advertising or analytics cookie is set: audience measurement (Vercel Analytics, PostHog) is configured without cookies. No consent banner is therefore displayed.

Traffic is measured with Vercel Analytics and PostHog (hosted in the European Union), both configured without cookies or local storage: the data is anonymous, aggregated and does not let anyone track you from one visit to the next. No data is cross-referenced with your identity, including if you book a Calendly slot.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect legal or technical changes. The date of the last update appears below. In the event of a substantial change, I will notify you if you are an active client.
